Team Jackets
I had lunch with this year seniors at the end of the summer and they requested I look into jackets for the upcoming season. The best deal for the best quality is a Bauer jacket (pictured below). We can get the jackets from Off the Field Sports with our logo on the upper left chest and the number on the middle of the back for $60.00. I have jackets for sizing in my classroom. I will take names, sizes and numbers from players who are interested in purchasing jackets by October 15th. Payment will be due by October 18th. I will place the one order then so the jackets will arrive for the beginning of the season.

Letter from Coach Leonard
September 21, 2013
Dear the 2012-2013 Lake Placid Blue Bomber Players and
Parents,
I am
writing this to inform all of you that I am officially not going to be joining
Coach Clark and Coach Martin on the coaching staff for the upcoming Blue Bomber
hockey season. I have started a new job in the last few weeks and I travel four
days a week leaving me no time to volunteer much time in coaching. I will
hopefully be able to help part time while I am home at practices, but you will
not see me on the bench I have told a handful of players and parents of this
news, but I really wanted to write it officially to inform anyone who has not
heard. I would also like to thank all of you for making my first year in a real
coaching position very enjoyable. To the players: you are a remarkable group of
young men and extremely talented both on and off the ice. I had a blast working
with all of you throughout the previous season. I hope you all keep up the hard
work and continue to represent the Blue Bombers in a positive way on the ice,
in the classroom, and in the community. Do not take high school hockey for
granted because it will be over before you know it. If any of last year’s
seniors see this I want to thank you as well and wish you the best of luck in
your future endeavors. To the parents: Thank you for being such a supportive
group. I know from my childhood years playing you guys dedicate a ton of time
and money to let your kids play a remarkable sport. Keep up the support and I
wish you the best as well. I am sure I will still see most of you throughout
the season, but I will be watching the game where you do. Feel free to chat and
ask for any advice throughout the season while I am watching the games able to.
I would
also like to thank Keith, Butch, Smiley, and the Lake Placid Central School for
giving me the opportunity to be able to coach a great group of players. Blue
Bomber Hockey pride is a great thing and I hope the tradition continues for
years to come. Thank you all and I wish the best of luck to everybody involved
in the upcoming season.
Sincerely,
Joe Leonard

Blue Bombers Volunteer at State Trooper Tournament
Thanks to all hockey players who ran the clock and kept score this past weekend at the State Trooper Hockey Tournament. I was notified of the tournament pretty late in the week so the players willingness to step up and help out last minute was great.

August Off-Ice Testing
Fifteen players attended today's off-ice testing. It is a little difficult to interpret results since so many players have started soccer and have been practicing hard.
Saw great improvement on the box jumps and bench press. We did not test the mile or 40 yard sprint because of the running already done in soccer.
The next test will be in November as part of our team evaluation process. I have created a spreadsheet so players can see their results from June to November.
BEST SCORES from AUGUST:
Pull-Ups - 13
T-Test - 8.5
Box Jumps - 33
Vertical - 26"
Bench Press - 22

Blue Bombers' Off-Ice Testing - Round 2
Thursday, August 22nd will be the second off-ice testing for hockey. I have heard that many players have participated in some form off off-ice training this summer which is encouraging.
The 22nd will give those players an opportunity to see how they have improved their speed, quickness, strength and endurance. We will meet at the LPHS gym at 4:30 and testing will hopefully be completed by 6:00 PM.
The six tests we will run:
1-mile run
T-test (agility)
Bench press (70% of weight max # of reps)
Pull-ups
Vertical leap
Height/Weight
ALL PLAYERS PLANNING ON TRYING OUT ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND. IF YOU MISSED THE JUNE TESTING YOU CAN STILL PARTICIPATE IN THE AUGUST TESTING.
Remember, our coaching staff will require these six tests as part of our evaluation process in early November.

Need a Summer Book
This book is not only good for hockey but any sport. As we start to think about next season I felt this may be a good read for interested players.
