Eagles charge back to beat Bombers
LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid came out firing in the first period Tuesday evening, scoring three goals to go up by two against the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference-leader Beekmantown boys’ hockey team.
Unfortunately for the Bombers, it was all Eagles after that.

Brendan Carnright scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist as Beekmantown knocked off Lake Placid, 4-3.
But for Lake Placid coach Keith Clark, the loss marked one of his team’s most complete efforts of the season.
“We had some lapses and they took advantage of our lapses, but I don’t think our intensity let down,” he said. “We made some mistakes and they ade us pay for it. But effortwise, that was our most complete game for sure.”
Eddy Kane got the bombers off to an early 1-0 lead when he scored off a feed from R.J. Reed at the 1:03 mark. The Eagles answered with a score from Cole Carter roughly four minutes later.
From there it was all Bombers for the rest of the period. Dylan Svage and Ryan Meyer both scored to put Lake Placid up 3-1 at the first intermission.
“We came out ready to play, and we got rewarded with an early lead,” Clark said. “In the first half o the game we played with a lot of intensity.”
Halfway through the second period the Brandon Buksa pulled the Eagles within one with the assists going to Carnright and Nathan Foster.
In the third it was all Carnright, as he scored at the 8:21 mark to tie the game and then put it away less than three minutes later.
“It was a good hockey game. They worked their way back into it, but we still played pretty hard throughout,” Clark said. “We had some nice chances in the end to tie it. We plugged away in the last four minutes, but we just couldn’t get the puck to fall.”
Missed chances proved to be the difference.
“We just couldn’t get that fourth goal,” Clark said. “We had a lot of chances, we just couldn’t find it.”
The loss dropped the Bombers to 9-4-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the CVAC. The Eagles improved to 12-3 and 5-1.
