Despite the loss, Lake Placid (7-1) won the tournament.
“Each team in the tournament won a game and we ended up winning based on a point system,” said Lake Placid coach Keith Clark.

The Blue Bombers’ first game in the tournament was a 3-0 victory over Brattleboro, Vt. on Friday. Brattleboro then posted a 2-1 win over Middlebury on Saturday.

The only goal in Sunday’s game came at the 11:43 mark of the first period. Keenan Bartlett tallied the game-winning marker, with Sawyer Hescock picking up the assist.
“They got the puck in the neutral zone and caught us in transition,” said Clark. “It was a good goal — for them.”
The Blue Bombers picked up their play in the second and third periods, but were unable to get the equalizer.
“We started out a little slowly, but it was a competitive up-and-down game,” said Clark. “I was pleased with our play in the second and third periods. We had a fair amount of chances, including after pulling our goalie.
“It was a good game.”

Lake Placid finished with a 22-21 advantage in shots on goal. Edgar Sherman was in net for the shutout with 22 saves and Jeffrey Smith turned aside 20 shots for the Blue Bombers.

“They were a physical team and there weren’t a ton of shots,” said Clark.
Out of the Blue Bombers’ eight games thus far, only one has been a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference contest.
Lake Placid will get a better idea where it stands when the Blue Bombers play at Beekmantown on Thursday.

“We have three CVAC games coming up in a row,” said Clark. “The CVAC has already established that it’s going to be a tight league this year.”
